Scrutable Poetry Corner: "Observe the Conventions"

Continuing to prove my amazing taste in scrutable poetry, here's one by Olive Ward from the December 1, 1928 issue of The New Yorker.
What's a girl to do
If the man she's mad about
Prove a bit untrue?
Shoot him for a gadabout?
Take the veil? or brew
Hemlock? Oh pooh-pooh,
Do as the Romans do:
Lug another lad about.
Yet another mysterious '20s poetess...I can't dig up any useful information about her.
